The farm manager is responsible for the running of the farm, they plan and organise everything from the planting of the crop to general maintenance and the day to day running of the farm. The manager works to ensure everything on the farm runs smoothly whether it means their working in the office, the shed or being out in the field.
Becoming a manager is not an instant thing, although there are generally no official qualifications required to become a farm manager it takes years of experience getting to know the workings of a farm before you will have knowledge and experience required to run it. Even though no formal qualifications are generally required it is becoming more common for mangers to have a university degree often in course such as agribusiness, agriculture or agricultural science.
